Professor Martin Gill recognised for contribution to the security sector

Professor Martin Gill of Perpetuity Research and the OSPAs has won two awards in October, both recognising him for his significant contributions to the security sector.

On October 13th 2016 Martin was awarded the Imbert Associations Prize during the 2016 CONSEC Conference at the London Heathrow Marriott Hotel. The Prize is awarded to an individual in recognition of his or her significant contribution to the security sector for the year, as nominated by ASIS, BSIA, IPSA and the SyI, and adjudged by the Association of Security Consultants (ASC) Award Panel.

The Imbert Prize highlights the ASC’s mission to encourage the advancement of risk and security management in the U.K. The prize is named after former Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service and Lord Lieutenant of Greater London, Lord Peter Imbert, who has been a prominent figure in security and policing.

This award comes hot on the heels of The ASIS President’s Award for Merit. This was awarded to Martin at ASIS International 62nd Annual Seminar and Exhibits (ASIS 2016) in Orlando from September 12–15. Martin received the award for his demonstrated dedication to the security sector and helped to advance the profession as a whole, highlighted through his work in the field of security education, his service of the Board of the ASIS Foundation and the development and implementation of the OSPAs.

In reference to his two awards, Martin is quoted saying:

“To me it is the ultimate accolade to be recognised by your peers and I am both extremely grateful and humbled by the honour. I am acutely aware of how many deserving people there are out there in security undertaking excellent work which is often unheralded. It is ironic that I receive two prestigious awards when one of my main commitments is to recognise the truly deserving security people around the world via the OSPAs. I would like to thank all those people who support me.”
