Following the roll out of Reliance Protect to highway workers at the UK’s leading sustainable building materials and construction solutions group, Lafarge Tarmac, Reliance High-Tech’s ‘Reliance Protect’ lone worker protection solution has been awarded Best Deployment of Lone Worker Technology at this year’s Security Excellence Awards.
Reliance Protect collaborated with Lafarge Tarmac’s Contracting business in spring 2013 to provide a flexible lone worker protection solution to improved the safety and protection of highway operatives while suiting their working practices and environments. The end-to-end solution includes a GPS-enabled Identicom™ lone worker device integrated into the armband of high visibility jackets that is accredited to BS8484 standards, incorporates man-down motion detection, and locates workers in the event of an emergency. The solution combines 24/7/365 manned monitoring from the Reliance Monitoring Centre, a dedicated helpdesk, face-to-face training for every Lafarge Tarmac operative as well as comprehensive management support and reporting tools for a fixed monthly fee.
Lafarge Tarmac has enhanced the safety and security of its lone worker operatives as well as unlocking significant efficiency savings. By eliminating an “accompanied worker scheme,” which previously required operatives to work in pairs, staff now feel secure operating vehicles and undertaking tasks alone using their Reliance Protect device
Commenting on the award, Dan Thomas, Sales and Marketing Director of Reliance High-Tech, said, “Reliance Protect is the largest lone worker protection solution in the UK, protecting over 50,000 lone workers in an array of job functions and industries. It is an honour to be recognised for our work with Lafarge Tarmac where Reliance Protect is driving operational efficiencies while improving the safety of highway operatives who do imperative but often risky work at night across Britain’s roads.”
Commenting on the Reliance Protect solution, Paul Fleetham, Managing Director for Lafarge Tarmac Contracting, added, “By equipping our lone workers with this innovative device, we can access real-time information from site, helping us to further improve the safety of our employees. This technology sets a new benchmark for lone worker safety and through a central control centre ensures that we are in constant communication with our employees and can immediately deploy support if necessary.”
