Safetyflex Barriers has won a contract in South America

Leading security bollard manufacturer, Safetyflex Barriers has further strengthened its exporting prowess – winning its first contract in South America.

The firm, based in Coventry in the West Midlands, has been chosen to protect multiple high-profile sites in Brazil ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The deal comes on the back of Safetyflex protecting multiple venues used at the London 2012 Games with its high security patented anti-terrorist bollards.

Safetyflex has also recently expanded its work in the US – winning a million dollar deal in the summer of 2015.

The manufacturer’s security products use innovative spring steel technology to protect infrastructure across the world from terrorist and criminal vehicle attacks.

Marcus Gerrard, director at Safetyflex Barriers, said the company has extended its manufacturing facility in Coventry on the back of securing international work.

“It was an extremely proud moment when Safetyflex was chosen as a key supplier for anti-terrorist bollards to the London 2012 Olympics and we’re delighted to have now been chosen to secure key sites in Brazil ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympics and Paralympics,” Gerrard said.

“Interest and orders in our anti-terrorist security products has snowballed since 2012, both domestically and internationally and to win our first contract in South America is extremely positive news.

“During the course of this year we’ve established a strong order book and sales in North America, and we anticipate expanding our exporting reach substantially over the next 12 to 18 months.

“We’ve extended our manufacturing facility in Coventry to meet the growing demand for our products and expect to do so again in the very near future.”

Safetyflex Barriers’ products protect key infrastructure from attacks or accidental damage, from banks and shop fronts, through to utility companies, high-security sites and stadia.
