Securi-Guard Fire and Security have employed an additional experienced engineer in response to an increasing workload in fire extinguisher maintenance – one of two new appointments at the Plymouth based company

Ed Hillier– who is qualified to industry standards under BAFE, the independent registration body for the fire protection industry – has been brought in to assist the servicing team meet the demands of maintaining an additional 2,500 extinguishers under a new contract with Plymouth City Council.

Under the terms of the Building Maintenance, Repair and Refurbishment Framework, Securi-Guard is now responsible for the supply, monitoring and maintenance of the portable fire extinguishers, fire systems, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control and emergency lighting at council buildings.

Alongside Hillier’s appointment, Adam Callaghan has been promoted to the role of Service Team Manager.

Hillier will also work closely with Securi-Guard’s fire and security sales team to assist in the ongoing promotion of the company’s fire extinguisher service.

Hillier said: “This is an opportunity to use my extensive knowledge and expertise to effectively deliver fire extinguisher maintenance, which is a key element of Securi-Guard’s fire and security services. I am looking to build on the company’s success in this area of the business.”

He is one of a team of nine fire and security engineers who work under newly promoted Adam Callaghan in the servicing department.

Callaghan ensures Hillier and the rest of the engineers fulfil the requirements of maintenance and service contracts, overseeing bookings and handling the logistics when the team are on the road.

A former supervisor who has been with Securi-Guard for the past six years, Callaghan’s promotion is in recognition of his achievements with the company and he is looking forward to the challenges of his new role.

“Having worked as an engineer myself for a number of years I know how important it is to ensure we meet the needs and aspirations of our clients in a professional manner,” said Callaghan.

“It can be quite a logistical challenge at times making sure our engineers are in the right place at the right time, but it is one I really enjoy, as well as dealing with our customers each day.”

One of the key contracts both Hillier and Callaghan’s team are tasked with delivering is for Plymouth City Council.
