It is a double family celebration for the managing directors of the South West’s largest independent fire and security specialist.
Both Scott Boyd, who heads up the fire and security division, and his sister Kim Precious, in charge of the company’s monitoring services, are marking 30 years with the Plymouth-based business in 2015.
It’s a significant landmark for the pair, whose father Bill Boyd originally launched the company in 1966 before establishing the Securi-Guard brand in 1982 under the same directorship, three years before Scott and Kim first joined the team.
Bill, who still takes a very active role in the business as company chairman, paid tribute to the contribution both his son and daughter have made to the development of Securi-Guard and the sense of family they have fostered amongst all the staff.
“Both Scott and Kim, as I do, take great pride in our reputation as one of the city’s leading family businesses. We have other family connections at all levels of the company and there is no doubt the importance we place on it has helped us retain many staff members over the years,” said Bill.
“The growth of our business over the last few decades has not been without its challenges, but both Scott and Kim have met those challenges head on and have always shown a real commitment to delivering a service of the highest quality across everything we do.”
Scott joined the company in April 1985 and initially worked as a security officer before learning all aspects of the security business, necessary for equipping him with the necessary experience and expertise required to take the role of Managing Director – Fire and Security.
Meanwhile, Kim began her security career in October 85 as part of the admin team before rising through the ranks and finally taking overall responsibility for the monitoring side of the business, which has undergone significant technological change in recent years.
Scott said: “It may sound like a cliché, but it really doesn’t feel like 30 years have passed since I joined the business. The industry itself has changed so much in that time too, but we have kept pace with it and achieved much, thanks largely to the dedication of a wonderful team of staff.”
Kim said: “It is the people who make a company and we see Securi-Guard as one big family in which every member of staff has a significant role to play. It has been an amazing 30 years – and I look forward to many more successful years to come.”
