The Security Buyer Live team are delighted to announce the latest addition to our speaker lineup, Joost Deutekom Marketing Manager of ODSecurity!
Joost started his career in marketing in life science for a company that developed and produced automation solutions for microbiology. Working in close collaboration he has been able to develop innovative solutions for laboratories around the world. This work included AI based imaging solutions that produced autonomous diagnostic results. More recently Joost has been the marketing manager for the SMI Groep, of which ODSecurity is part. In this roll he has been at the forefront in bringing innovation to the product portfolio of ODSecurity. He heartily believes that smart algorithms will help operators in their ability to detect any contraband at any location.
Security Buyer Live is the event for International Security Buyer Magazine, the leading and must-attend online event for both the passive and active sectors. With the rapid evolution of technologies, and the constant shift of policy and challenging requirements of users, it is now more important than ever to stay abreast of the issues that affect you.
With this in mind, Joost will be delving deeper into ‘Incorporating AI into contraband detection in prisons’. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are being increasingly used in our daily lives and have proven their value in many fields, from hospitals to education, from ecommerce to agriculture. Given that AI is, by its very nature, continually evolving, and given the fact that safety and security in the global prison estate is also continually evolving – incorporating the two together would inevitably become symbiotic.
Previously body scanners are made up of an x-ray emitter and an x-ray detector. To perform a scan an individual stands between the emitter and the detector, and a low dose of x-ray radiation is passed through that person. Radiation passes through the person being scanned, allowing an X-ray image of that person to be made, detecting both organic and non-organic items. While the scan operators look for suspicious anomalies in/on a human body, AI looks for what isn’t.
