Surat Safe City benefits from Delta video wall

Delta Displays has provided a state-of-the-art 280-square-foot video wall solution for the first-ever Safe City Project in India.

A division of the Delta Group that specialises in control room solutions across a range of industries, Delta Displays collaborated with the Surat City Police department, the Surat Traffic Education Trust and Innovative Telecom and Software on the project.

The DLP video wall powered with Next Gen LEDs has been installed at the Surat Police Headquarters’ command and control room to assist the force to monitor the entire city.

Hundreds of CCTV cameras across Surat were installed as part of the project as the police aims to improve the safety of the city and it’s traffic management, with the network covering all major traffic junctions and main entry and exit points into the city, as well as popular urban areas.

A key part of the Safe City Project is also the opportunity to proactively address any terror threat through the city’s new 24/7 video surveillance and security command centre.

The video wall solution at the central control room is powered by Delta’s Icon pro controller and wall management software and is identified as key to the success of the Safe City Project,

Data coming in from sources across the CCTV network is monitored and analysed on the wall, with the facility also available to display city maps and provide additional reports as required.

The Project was inaugurated by Shri Narendra Modi, the current Chief Minister of Gujarat, and in a speech he praised the initiative and discussed the benefits such security technology can bring to people’s lives.

The Safe City Project team are optimistic the success in Surat could lead to further surveillance systems rolled out across further cities in India.

Hemant Agarwal, Senior Director at Delta Displays, told SecurityNewsDesk: “City surveillance projects are becoming a necessity in large cities as there is a need to ensure safety of the public by monitoring each part of the city.

“It is crucial to have a central control room equipped with high-end large video wall solutions to monitor minute details with convenience.

“With the success of Surat City Surveillance project, we are expecting more cities to come up with video surveillance systems.”

A recent report by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India recently found that demand for CCTV is soaring in India and predicted a hug increase in demand over the next few years.
