TDSi Welcomes Student to its Software Development Team

Integrated Access Control and Security manufacturer TDSi is pleased to announce that Samuel Annear has joined the company’s Software Development Team, based in Poole in Dorset, for a twelve-month placement as part of his Computing Studies Course at Bournemouth University.

TDSi has proudly supported university placements and apprenticeships for many years, highlighting its commitment to fostering and supporting talent in the next generation of security professionals. Tina Baker, Software Project Manager at TDSi commented, “We are delighted to welcome Samuel to the TDSi team as our new placement student. Whilst we design and manufacture physical access control and integrated security solutions, Software Development plays a key role in this. Samuel will experience the demands and rewards of working in a commercial business environment along with technical development, whilst our whole team will benefit from his fresh perspective and new ideas.”

Samuel also commented, “I was interested in the opportunity to improve my programming skills by working in a team of experienced programmers. The idea of working on a large piece of software was also interesting to me, learning how everything links together. My experience as a developer comes from the multiple projects I have worked on at university, the events the university holds, and the extracurricular hackathons that get hosted. I also have experience working in a team from being a bartender and team leader and working at TDSi will help to expand this side of my experience as well.”

A key part of Samuel’s role at TDSi will be assisting the team with the ongoing development of its GARDiS software, working on new features and ensuring it continues to offer full reliability and functionality to its customers. Samuel added, “I believe TDSi and its products are successful because there is great communication between the team and everyone is willing to help each other. This means that a high standard of work can be maintained, resulting in a successful company and workspace.”

Working with Bournemouth University has proven to be highly fruitful for TDSi and the students, with several having permanently joined the team following graduation. Tina Baker added, “We maintain a very active relationship with the university and passionately believe that supporting upcoming talent is vital not only for our business and the security sector but also for the wider UK economy. I can testify to this from first-hand experience – I was a Bournemouth University student and now head up our software R&D team! There are huge opportunities for talented young professionals to gain their skills and training through placements and ultimately to make a big impression on the security industry.”
