World's first POE network switches with ONVIF support revealed by D-Link

D-Link, the leading IP camera supplier in Europe, has revealed the world’s first Power over Ethernet (PoE) network switches, featuring ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) support. The new DGS-1100 MP/MPP Series Gigabit Smart Managed Surveillance PoE+ Switches have been designed to dramatically simplify the installation and management of IP CCTV systems. D-Link’s unique inclusion of ONVIF support enables these high performance Ethernet switches to automatically recognise both D-Link and third party IP cameras, Network Video Recorders (NVRs) and other IP devices such as access control systems. Automatic device recognition via ONVIF means installation teams just need to plug network cables into CCTV cameras and other components, connect the cables to the smart switch and the system’s elements will appear in the switch’s dedicated surveillance optimised web interface. From this straightforward interface, the installer or operator can see real-time information about their surveillance network, such as surveillance topology, device status, PoE consumption data and network bandwidth utilisation. With full control over the PoE ports, at the click of a mouse cameras can be configured and managed; for example to set schedules for camera operation or to restart a device. “With security a critical concern for businesses, the demand for IP based surveillance is growing due to its ease of integration with other systems. The introduction of the DGS-1100 MP/MPP Switches means that a security system installer can confidently plug and play complete IP surveillance systems, without needing to ‘deep dive’ into layers of networking configuration,” said Paul Routledge, Country Manager UK and Ireland. “With the move to PoE eliminating the need for power cabling, and the simplification that our unique implementation of ONVIF offers, professional CCTV installation is entering a new age of speed and simplicity.”

New LILIN IP PTZ surveillance camera solves low light challenges with adaptive IR LED night vision

In low-light environments, security professionals must find ways to capture crisp, high-resolution surveillance video that are reliable, secure and cost-effective. This challenge is made all the more difficult where both IR illumination and PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) functionality is required.   To meet this growing market need, LILIN today launched the newest addition to its IP video surveillance portfolio, the IRS1304 PTZ IP Camera which is able to capture 1080p HD video in near total darkness without the need for external IR illuminators. Key to its success is adaptive IR illumination technology that automatically increases light intensity when the camera is zoomed in, while decreasing it when it is zoomed out. And because the IR LED system is fully integrated into camera operations, it will illuminate the PTZ field of view, whether panning right or left, or zooming in or out. The LEDs adjust automatically up to a maximum of 150 meters to enable large areas to be monitored with little to no ambient light.   “Our customers have asked us for a high-quality PTZ camera to deploy in applications where it is simply too dark for standard low lux light level PTZ cameras to operate,” explained Joe Cook, General Manager of LILIN Americas. “With its adaptive IR LEDs, 30x optical zoom and weather resistant IP66 rating, the IRS1304 is the answer. It is the perfect solution for driving improved nighttime performance.”   According to Cook, the IRS1304 with IR illumination ‘on’ will capture images down to 0.0 lux or the equivalent of near total darkness.   Preset function allows up to 128 preset positions for scanning multiple areas to be viewed automatically at predetermined time intervals without the need for an operator to control the camera. LILIN’s user-friendly interface allows for easy pan, tilt and zoom control through the recorder, web browser, or the LILIN Viewer application for mobile devices.   The camera’s IP66-rated housing is designed to withstand rain and dust for operation under a multitude of harsh weather conditions at temperatures ranging -40° F to 122° F. It is ONVIF compliant for simple, cost-effective integration with third-party equipment.
