The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has organised a series of seminars and exhibitions to explore the latest CCTV sector developments.

The seminars will discuss the ‘current landscape’ for CCTV, provide expert insight into the latest changes in technology and legislation,  and talk about the professional use of modern cameras, equipment, and IP connections, including energy saving systems.

They will also provide an opportunity to learn about the Government’s new Code of Practice from representatives of the Home Office.

Open to everyone with a professional interest in the CCTV sector, the half-day seminars are due to take place in Leeds and Windsor, on 17th and 30th April respectively. Free to attend for BSIA members, the cost to non-members is just £60 – which includes admittance to the seminar and exhibition, followed by a light lunch.

The Seminars are aimed at installers looking to update their knowledge as well as specifiers, consultants and security managers. Alongside the seminars, an exhibition will enable delegates to meet with a number of manufacturers and see products on display.

Among the speakers will be BSIA CCTV Section Chairman, Simon Adcock, who will provide guidance to end-users on the production of Operational Requirements, and Chairman of the BSIA’s CCTV Technical Group, Mark Wherrett, who will investigate the complex arena of camera and lens selection.

Simon Adcock commented: “This event represents a fantastic opportunity for anyone with an interest in CCTV to catch up on the latest trends and developments in technology, with presentations covering topics as wide-ranging as transmission, recording and control to energy saving, lighting and remote monitoring.

“With time set aside for questions and answers, delegates will benefit from individual advice from industry experts and Government representatives, and I look forward to sharing the broad knowledge and best practice of BSIA members with the wider CCTV community.”

Joining BSIA representatives at the podium will be speakers from the Home Office Centre for Applied Science and Technology (CAST, formerly HOSDB) – who will explain the Government’s Code of Practice relating to CCTV – and spokespeople from other BSIA member companies, including Tavcom, GJD, Honeywell and UTC Fire and Security.

David Wilkinson, Technical Manager at the BSIA, added: “The success of last year’s technical roadshows demonstrated that there is real value for end-users in coming along to a local event to hear directly from industry experts. We hope that these new CCTV seminars will provide essential advice and guidance to all involved with purchasing, specifying and operating CCTV systems.”
