Securitas COO Central Europe wins BSIA Award

Shaun Kennedy, Chief Operating Officer for Securitas Central Europe, has been honoured with the Contribution to the Industry award at this week’s British Security Industry Association (BSIA) Awards.

Previously serving as Country President of Securitas UK, Kennedy led initiatives that transformed the security sector. His tenure saw the development of Securitas UK’s ‘Six Protective Services’, an intelligent, solution-driven approach that integrates skilled teams with advanced technology to enhance clients’ security strategies.

Kennedy was also a key advocate for diversity and inclusion, introducing the Disability Passport Scheme, the Deaf Awareness programme, and various Employee Networks to support under-represented communities. These initiatives aimed to cultivate a culture of respect and equality within the organisation.

His commitment to social responsibility is evident in projects such as the “Securitas Has Got Talent” competition and partnerships with Calderwood House and KMAB, which support the homeless. Additionally, his long-term collaboration with Wooden Spoon has focused on improving environments for children with disabilities. These efforts underline Securitas UK’s dedication to positively impacting society and the security industry.

Kennedy’s career in security began in 1997 with Chubb Security after five years in the British Armed Forces. Starting as a guard on minimum wage, he advanced through the ranks, working across various sectors and services, including mobile security and technology. Following the acquisition of Chubb Security by Securitas in 2011, Kennedy eventually became the Chief Operating Officer of Securitas Central Europe.

Reflecting on his award, Kennedy said, “After over 27 years of hard work, dedication, and commitment, it is truly amazing to be recognised in this way. My journey has been, and still is, one of transformation and learning. The security industry has changed so much over the years, and I am really proud to have influenced key changes that benefited officers, colleagues, clients, and the wider sector.”
