Counter Terror Expo 2013 hailed as a success

CTX_2013_300x200A total of 9,264 visitors flocked through the doors of London’s Olympia for the Counter Terror Expo 2013, with attendances up 9 per cent year-on-year.

The fifth edition of the show saw packed aisles in the Grand Hall as exhibitors showcased technologies, equipment and services across the two-day event.

Counter Terror Expo is the largest global counter-terrorism event and features the latest tools from across the globe to protect against terrorist attacks and modern day risks across a wealth of security scenarios.

Attendees that flocked to Olympia in their thousands shared the latest technical innovations, best-practice and case study experiences across highly-specialised feature zones and live demonstration areas, all designed to enrich the overall experience.

Philip Hunter, event director at Clarion Defence and Security, said: “Counter Terror Expo has once again demonstrated its unique ability to service the complex requirements of the counter-terrorism and security industry.

“We’re delighted to have seen an increase in attendance to the event further cementing CTX’s position as the leading global counter-terrorism and security event in the world.

“We look forward to engaging with all stakeholders over the next 12 months to deliver an even more relevant and successful event in 2014.”

Austin Freshwater, Canon UK Pro Imaging director, told SecurityNewsDesk about the success of the show and Canon’s experience at Counter Terror Expo 2013.

He said: “There were a large number of visitors from across Europe and the other parts of the world which included decision makers, budget holders and technical end users from the security and Counter Terror Expo 2013 industry.

“This provided a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate the wide range of products Canon offers and the Canon stand received a huge amount of interest from attendees at the show.

“Canon’s portfolio at the show was very wide and we had great response to everything from our small point-and-shoot compacts up to professional DSLR, as well as 4K video, large format print and our VCC security cameras.“

Monika Luis, sales director of security at Streit Group, the world’s leading privately-owned vehicle armouring company, which was making its second appearance at the show, commented on a noticeable increase in international visitors in 2013. She said the show is key for the brand and Streit matched all target expectations.

Luis said: “This was our second Counter Terror Expo and this year the quality of visitors we’ve seen was more international. I think that Clarion did a fantastic job, there was a good quality of the visitors, and we were busy for two days non-stop.”

EyeLynx showcased its Pharos rapid-deploy CCTV system at the show. Jay Patel, CEO of EyeLynx, commented on the on-going success of the Counter Terror Expo.

He said: “It was definitely a big success for us. We showed our Pharos product on the stand of the award winners Zaun. There was loads of interest, we were swamped. It was certainly more active than in previous years, and I think that has been a trend at Counter Terror, of increasing interest year-on-year at the show.”

Vauxhall were first-time exhibitors in 2013 and took their place in the Armoured and Support Vehicle Zone.

Dick Ellam, manager of Vauxhall Special Vehicles, Vauxhall Fleet, said: “This was the perfect platform for us to meet international buyers, and the quality of visitor has exceeded all our expectations. We have already booked our stand for 2014 and are looking forward to returning.”
