The organising committee for QMARSEC 2014 has confirmed that Dr Ioannis Loukas will become one of the guest speakers during the annual conference scheduled to take place on October 14th and 15th 2014 at the Ritz-Carlton in Qatar.
AS a PhD in International Relations from the University of Athens, Dr Loukas has had a prolific academic and professional career in the field of armed forces and marine systems. In a career spanning over three decades, Dr Loukas has held several important positions, such as the Chair Professor in Greek Navel Academy, Professor in Helmut-Schmidt-University of the German Federal Armed Forces, and the Director, European Centre of Delphi, Council of Europe. He has also served as the Senior Advisor to the Chairman of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, Doha.
Expressing his gratitude towards Dr Loukas for becoming a part of QMARSEC 2014, the Director of Qatar National Security Shield Project Staff Brigadier (pilot) Mohammed A. AL-Mannai stated, “I take this opportunity to than Dr Ioannis Loukas on behalf of the organising committee for QMARSEC 2014. Dr Loukas has spent many years in the Greek Naval Academy, Helmut-Schmidt-University of the German Federal Armed Forces, and ThyssenKrup Marine Systems. His presence will certainly help us achieve another in depth discussion on maritime security at QMARSEC 2014.”
Dr Ioannis Loukas said, “It is a great honour for me to share with the attending military and government delegates at QMARSEC 2014. I honestly feel that events like these have the potential to create a positive impact, as far as solving different maritime security related issues is concerned. I remain dedicated to working with Qatar to achieve their maritime security objectives.
The Chairman of Defense Services Marketing Council (DSMC) Matthew Chochran is optimistic about QMARSEC 2014. “In this year’s QMARSEC, our main area of focus will be maritime domain awareness and the steps leading to achieving the same. I am sure that this conference will turn out to be a great learning opportunity for individuals and organisations in the defence, space and security industry,” he said.
The Maritime Security Coastal and Boarder Surveillance Conference had a successful debut in 2013, and is already Qatar’s largest Maritime Security Conference. The credit behind the phenomenal success of QMARSEC can be attributed to National Security Shield (NSS) and the Defense Services Marketing Council (DSMC), the event’s official host and organising partner.
