Elmdene puts spotlight on powerful solutions at IFSEC 2013

New to Elmdene's power supply range are PoE standby devices-1 (2)Electronic security and fire products manufacturer Elmdene International is showcasing its latest industry-leading solutions at the CCTV Cafe (Hall 5, Stand B120) throughout IFSEC International 2013.

Elmdene’s CCTV Cafe display and branding is part of a high profile sponsorship deal to celebrate the Portsmouth-based company’s impressive 50 years in business.

Solutions that are to be prominently displayed on Elmdene’s special product wall in the CCTV Cafe include: the very latest highly efficient and reliable Power Supply Units (PSUs) – built around switch mode technology; a solution to help meet the fire industry standard (EN54-23) for Visual Alarm Devices (VAD); a cost effective in-line UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply); a modular siren backplate; Power over Ethernet (PoE) standby solutions, plus sounders and IR exit buttons for access control.

Looking in more detail at the switch mode PSUs that Elmdene plans to spotlight at IFSEC’s CCTV Cafe, these reflect the growing take-up of these solutions across the security and fire industries in preference to more traditional linear power supplies. According to Elmdene, when deployed, switch mode units offer a higher level of efficiency (80-87%), lower energy bills and a reduced carbon footprint. In addition, the fact that they run significantly cooler than established linear designs makes them less susceptible to failure.

Taking pride of place at IFSEC 2013 will be new additions to Elmdene’s PSU range, specifically the modular GEN2 and GEN3 models which supersede older less capable linear variants. These readily combine the proven benefits of switch mode technology whilst, at the same time, addressing the specific demands of graded intruder alarm installations to Grade 2 and Grade 3 – depending on the model selected – under PD6662:2010 and EN50131-6:2008.

Considering another key innovation, Elmdene is to showcase at the CCTV Cafe, the UPS12-2200 is a compact, and cost effective, in-line UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), designed to back-up 12V dc devices up to 10W (800mA) such as CCTV cameras and door locks.

The company also plans to use IFSEC 2013 to highlight the pressing need for standby power supplies to provide back-up for Power over Ethernet (PoE) devices across critical security, access control and IT applications.

Ian Moore, Managing Director at Elmdene, said: “Our comprehensive display of Elmdene’s solutions at this year’s IFSEC, including the new products that we are bringing to market, underline that today – half a century on from Elmdene’s foundation – the business continues to provide innovative solutions, from our Portsmouth base, to meet the real world challenges of customers in the UK and across the wider EMEA region. Elmdene’s expanding switch mode portfolio, in-line UPS solution, and cutting-edge Power over Ethernet standby power supplies, reflect very much our position as a real leader in this industry, something that we are determined to build on, as an integral part of the Potter family of companies, in the years and decades to come.”
