SASIG unveil ’Cyber security – Prevention is better than cure’ Spring Meeting

The Security Awareness Special Interest Group (SASIG) has announced details of the SASIG Spring Meeting 2013 entitled ’Cyber security – Prevention is better than cure’.

The event is hosted by BT at the BT Centre in London on April 25th 2013 and run in conjunction with the Home Office Crime and Policing Group and the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists.

The theme for the SASIG Spring Meeting 2013 is about improving prevention activities within e-fraud and cybercrime, and communicating more effectively with the widest possible audiences. At this meeting we will investigate the cost of cyberfraud to UK plc, and the benefits and savings that can be accrued from better and proactive prevention. There will be emphasis on the need to “make the security messages simple”, to “get under the skins of end users”, and to encourage the reporting of crime. We will debate how to get consumers and businesses to at least use the in-built security features available on most systems and networks, and we will examine national and local initiatives to improve cybersecurity awareness and action.
