Securitas to Showcase Specialist Solutions at IFSEC 2014

Global industry leader Securitas Security Services (UK) Ltd will use IFSEC International 2014 to spotlight how its specialist solutions are delivering value to customers such as the London Fire Brigade and the Police service.

securitasThe Emergency Fire Crew Capability (EFCC) is one part of Securitas’s growing portfolio of specialist guarding services. Comprising a unit of around 200 personnel, the EFCC provides crucial contingency cover to the London Fire Brigade, which is the world’s third-largest fire and rescue service.

Highly trained officers, handpicked via a rigorous selection process, have supported London Fire Brigade with nine deployments since September 2013 during industrial action, with the unit mobilised within just six days’ notice.

Ron Dobson, Commissioner of the London Fire Brigade, believes the EFCC provides a readied, skilled and dedicated unit which is unrivalled in the UK. He says: “Securitas works in partnership with us to offer a model that best fits what we require as the UK’s largest fire and rescue service.

As Commissioner, I am responsible for providing a fire and rescue function to cover the whole of London, which is the seat of Government and has a number of iconic buildings. I need to ensure a service will be met under all circumstances, and I know Securitas won’t let me down.”

IFSEC delegates can also learn about the specialist Securitas crime scene guards making a significant impact within forces including Dorset, Devon and Cornwall, and Avon and Somerset. Amid a climate of public sector austerity, Securitas delivers crime scene support for up to 75 per cent less than it would cost the Police, whilst also freeing up warranted officers for more senior duties.

With specialist training underpinning the service, Securitas can man a crime scene within four hours’ notice, ensuring compliance with Police processes. The solution is being scoped as an attractive option within forces across the UK. Avon and Somerset Police’s Detective Superintendent Mike Courtiour says: “The benefit is when you have a [crime] scene, you push the buttons and know there is capacity, you know the people are going to arrive. For me it has been a win-win situation.”

Developed for high profile corporate businesses, it provides a professional first impression with experienced staff occupying an efficient and versatile role as brand ambassadors for the organisation. Personnel are recruited to a specific brief and can offer support across first aid, switchboard, access control, fire evacuation and reception.

Senior Securitas staff will be on hand at IFSEC at stand D100 to provide further details on all three services – fire crew capability, crime scene guarding, and STARS.
