A popular CCTV seminar and exhibition is arriving in Scotland this autumn, and is set to provide Scottish businesses and local authorities with an expert insight into the latest changes in technology and legislation, while exploring recent developments in the CCTV sector.

Organised by the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) – the trade association representing the UK’s private security industry, including a large number of CCTV manufacturers and installers, and with the support of the Safer Communities Training Unit, Scottish Police College and the Scottish Community Safety Network – the seminar will discuss the ‘current landscape’ for CCTV and outline the Scottish Government’s position on surveillance as well as providing practical advice on operational requirements for end-users and installers.

Open to everyone with a professional interest in the CCTV sector – including installers, specifiers, consultants and security managers, as well as local authorities and police – the half-day event will take place at the Scottish Police College, Tulliallan Castle, Fife, on 22 October. Free to attend, the seminar will be supported by an exhibition of the latest products and services from BSIA members and will be followed by a light lunch.

Among the speakers will be BSIA Technical Officer, Paul Phillips, who will provide guidance on how to navigate the latest CCTV standards, and Jacqui Doig of the Scottish Community Safety Network, who will discuss the challenges of public space CCTV from an end-user perspective.

Simon Adcock, Chairman of the BSIA’s dedicated CCTV Section, said: “This event represents a fantastic opportunity for anyone with an interest in CCTV to catch up on the latest trends and developments in technology, with presentations covering topics as wide-ranging as transmission, recording and control to energy saving, lighting and remote monitoring.

“With time set aside for questions and answers, delegates will benefit from individual advice from industry experts and Government representatives and, as an Association, we look forward to sharing the broad knowledge and best practice of BSIA members with the wider business community.”

Christine Brooks, Events Manager at the BSIA, added: “The success of the CCTV roadshows we held in other areas of the UK  earlier this year demonstrated that there is real value for end-users in coming along to a local event to hear directly from industry experts. We hope that this latest CCTV seminar will provide essential advice and guidance to all involved with purchasing, specifying and operating CCTV systems in Scotland.”
