Showsec has been awarded a five year contract by SMG Europe, the UK’s biggest arena operator, to deliver all its venue security and crowd management requirements for its mainland UK venues.

As well as the Manchester Evening News Arena, Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena and the new Leeds Arena opening later this year, Showsec will provide staff and services to SMG’s portfolio of five regional theatres.

John Sutherland, Managing Director/Senior VP of SMG Europe says:

“We are delighted to continue and extend the successful working relationship with Showsec, which began when Manchester Arena opened in 1995.  We have grown together over the years, and Showsec has demonstrated a real commitment to training and employee relations. Having a stewarding company which shares the same ethos and care for our customers is a valuable asset for any venue operator.”

When the 13,000 capacity Leeds Arena opens in September this year, SMG Europe’s venues in England will attract over 3 million ticketholders each year.

Mark Harding, Managing Director of Showsec comments:

“All at Showsec are delighted to have been selected by SMG, they are very progressive venue operators with a dynamic team. We value the trust this agreement shows SMG hold for us, this strengthens our long-term relationship and enables us to invest further in our service development to meet the ongoing challenges in our sector.

“Our company’s unique management development program continues to provide a new generation of talented professionals to fulfil the opportunities offered to us by our  clients. There has been a desire in Leeds for an Arena venue for over two decades, so it is particularly exciting to work with SMG towards making this one of the UK’s flagship venues.”
