Ongoing commitment to deterring crime

One of Scotland’s largest construction companies, City Building (Glasgow) LLP, have renewed their membership with Secured by Design (SBD), the national police crime prevention initiative. SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK. Secured by Design (SBD) operates an accreditation scheme on behalf of the UK Police Service for products or services that have met recognised security standards. These products or services – which must be capable of deterring or preventing crime – are known as being of a ‘Police Preferred Specification’. Police Crime Prevention Initiatives (Police CPI) is a police owned organisation which delivers a wide range of crime prevention and demand reduction initiatives across the UK. The extensive Police CPI portfolio covers a variety of crime prevention initiatives, of which Secured by Design is the most well-known, with all initiatives designed to keep the public safe from crime and to reduce the demand on the police service. Alan Burns Executive Director of City Building said, “The ongoing partnership between City Building and Secured by Design has played a vital role in the protection and safety of all City Building projects.”City Building’s renewed membership with the scheme represents an ongoing commitment to deterring and preventing crime and antisocial behaviour surrounding City Building sites. We will also create tangible benefits to both City Building as a company and the wider community that we serve. SBD National Lead Kenny McHugh said, “I am delighted that City Building have renewed their Secured by Design membership. I am looking forward to working with them over the coming years”. loitering

KEYper partners with iDter

KEYper Systems, an ASSA ABLOY Company and global provider of innovative key and asset control management solutions, announced a new strategic partnership with iDter, an award-winning San Mateo, Calif., developer and manufacturer of a unique commercial security solution that puts an end to loitering and crime on properties. iDter, which stands for intelligent and immediate deterrence of crime, uses artificial intelligence (AI) embedded in Nio Guardian nodes located around a property to detect intrusion and take immediate and programmable deterrence actions against the intrusion. This strategic partnership provides KEYper Systems and its network of agents full access to iDter’s security solution and services, which have been proven to thwart 98% of crime without the delays or high costs associated with human intervention. Through the alliance, KEYper has the rights to embed the iDter Nio Guardian system in its products and sell the entire iDter commercial security system directly to KEYper clients. Current users of iDter include automobile and agricultural dealerships, commercial and multi-family buildings, retail outlets, hotels, restaurants, schools, utilities facilities, and any location with outdoor assets requiring protection for equipment, parked vehicles, loading docks, dumpsters, construction supplies and/or structures. “Our partnership with iDter helps us provide a robust solution to our clients who report ever-increasing incidents of vandalism and crime against their outdoor assets and property,” said Steve Baucom, President of KEYper Systems. “In addition, we plan to embed Nio Guardians in our MX and MXi Key Management Systems to provide vigilant protection of our clients’ keys and assets.” Nio Guardians are easy-to-install devices equipped with a 4K high-resolution HD camera, motion detectors, microphone and deep learning AI to automatically detect an intrusion. Upon detection, Nio Guardians immediately deter intruders using 10,000 lumens of LED flood light, red/blue LED strobes, and three-way loudspeakers for spoken messages, startling sound effects and ear-piercing alarms. The Nio nodes execute programmable scripts that escalate their response upon detection and have access to a myriad of playlist responses designed to defy predictability. Notifications of intrusion with video recordings are sent to property owners for self-monitoring on mobile phones or to the iDter monitoring personnel for 911 response. “We are pleased to engage in this strategic partnership with KEYper Systems, the leader in protecting and managing keys and dealer assets,” said Greg Ayres, iDter Vice President Marketing and Business Development. “KEYper has a strong reputation in the vertical markets that benefit from our fully-automated deterrence system that detects crimes in seconds – because time matters! KEYper will now be offering an outdoor security system that is faster, more effective and at a lower price point than monitored cameras or security guards.” For more news updates, check out our June issue here.
