SecurityNewsDeskTV: We chat to the delegates and speakers at Safe Newcastle event

This week SecurityNewsDesk TV is reporting from the Safe Newcastle Global MSC Security Seminar in Newcastle.

This event, which alternates between Newcastle and Bristol twice a year, is an opportunity for delegates from around the country to hear from eminent speakers and meet a range of manufacturers and suppliers. And best of all for delegates, it’s entirely free of charge.

In this webcast, we feature interviews with panels and delegates at the seminar.

Naturally I interviewed Paul Angus from Safe Newcastle and Derek Maltby of Global MSC to ask them how the conference went. Paul explained that Newcastle was keen to set a positive example for the region for best practice in CCTV.

DCI Mick Neville from the Metropolitan Police circulation gave us his candid opinions about the challenges and successes in identifying suspects after the summer riots.

We were also fortunate to speak to Peter Webster of Slough Borough Council who told us about the challenges of managing a control room in tight economic times.

Another notable figure among the delegates was Paul Mackie from Camerawatch. I asked him about his organisation’s claim that 90 per cent or more of CCTV systems are operating in breach of the Data Protection Act.

And Alan Gardner from the London Borough of Enfield reveals his work on a new CCTV forum which aims to get all the stakeholders involved in CCTV to talk to each other and make joint recommendations regarding regulation to the Home Office.

It’s good to catch up with these players in the security industry, keep watching Security News Desk TV for more up to date news, views and opinion.
