Amthal Fire & Security doing its homework for schools

Amthal Fire & Security is the security partner of choice for the prestigious St Margaret’s School, to provide peace of mind to all staff, pupils and visitors without compromising on the 19th century architecture of the Grade II listed building.

St Margaret’s was founded in 1749 and owned by the Clergy Orphan Corporation until 1996 when it became a fully independent school for girls, aged 4 – 18. Today, the school is the UK’s longest running girl’s boarding school and one of the oldest independent girls’ schools in the UK and the oldest in Hertfordshire.

Working closely with Amthal Fire & Security, an integrated access control solution alongside bespoke class change systems have all been carefully installed to work around learning timetables and remain sensitive to the historical design of the buildings.

Colin Currie, Facilities Manager at St Margaret’s School said, “As a school, it is our absolute priority to ensure the security of everyone who works and learns here. In addition for St Margaret’s, the historical significance of the school as a prominent educational establishment is essential to protect and it is our responsibility to make sure it is cared for at every level.

“Amthal Fire & Security certainly did its homework in taking the time to survey the site and came up with a flexible maintenance programme that achieves all these objectives on an ongoing basis. They are always available and offer good advice on anything security or fire safety related, to the extent that we consider them our true security partners. We are continually looking at ways to grow our relationship and enhance our security across the school’s 74 acre site.”

Says David Williamson, Account Manager at Amthal Fire & Security added, “Security and safety in schools is undoubtedly a highly emotive subject and one which is never far from the conscience of those involved in the implementation of an effective school security strategy.

“We like to consider ourselves as part of this team, where we can really understand the bespoke requirements. At St Margaret’s the benefit of working in this way is allowing for the historical significance of the school and creating a plan to keep it safe and secure for many more years to come.”

Independently owned, Amthal Fire & Security is dedicated to satisfying end user needs for security safety and convenience offering design, installation, service and remote monitoring of advanced electronic fire & security solutions, including intruder, Fire, Access and CCTV systems.

Amthal Fire & Security is accredited by the Security Systems and Alarm Inspection Board (SSAIB) United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS) and British Approvals for Fire Equipment (BAFE.)
