BSIA launch updated edition of CCTV user logbook

cctv-cameraThe British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has officially launched a revised edition of its CCTV users’ logbook aimed at end users of CCTV surveillance systems.

The logbook reflects the latest developments in industry standards and governance, and has been updated to reflect current industry practice and content of both European and International CCTV standards.

Activity surrounding CCTV surveillance system standards and the Government’s CCTV Code of Practice – currently in the closing stages of a consultation period – has had an influence on the complete overhaul of the CCTV user logbook.

Dave Wilkinson, the BSIA’s technical manager, said: “Revising these logbooks has been a long time coming, but we were compelled to wait until the convergence of both the Government’s Code of Practice and a CCTV standards framework were made available.”

The revised edition sees the introduction of carbon copy inserts, which the BSIA claims will be of great benefit to installers during commissioning and hand-over of a CCTV system.

The BSIA’s Code of Practice for the planning, design, installation and operation of CCTV surveillance systems, and with the Code of practice for the maintenance of CCTV surveillance systems, are two publications which complement the CCTV logbook, and are both currently under review.
