Mercury Security and Tavcom Training to jointly conduct Belfast 18.12 Conference

Mercury Security, Northern Ireland’s largest independent security company, and Tavcom Training, the UK security industry’s leading training organisation, are jointly orchestrating a conference for security professionals at the La Mon Hotel and Country Club in Castlereagh, near Belfast, on 7 March, 2013.

The 18.12 Conference is being supported by a number of expert speakers from across the security industry and will feature practical tests and demonstrations of a wide range of products and technologies.

“Our day/night event is intended to give those attending a greater understanding of many of the current issues relating to both analogue and IP network technology, and it will also cover the latest  CCTV standards,” said Mike Tennent, Managing Director of Hampshire based Tavcom Training.  “We are calling it the 18.12 Conference simply because we will be addressing how CCTV cameras cope with challenging lighting conditions, and although we have a packed afternoon of presentations covering other issues, the practical tests and fun will start when the sun sets at twelve minutes part six.”

Analytics,  Thermal imaging and the gathering of video evidence will be among the subjects  to be discussed at the conference, whilst among the expert speakers will be Brian Hoy of the NSAI, who will talk about what it means for an installation to be ‘fit for purpose’, Peter Fry, Head of the CCTV User Group who will bring with him a realistic and perhaps somewhat controversial view of public surveillance  systems, and John Laws, an independent  security  consultant,  who will table and discuss the  question: Is IP everything it is cracked up to be?

“It’s clear from the success of the technical training facility which we jointly set up last year with Tavcom Training at our head office in Lisburn, Co Antrim, that installers and security professionals in Northern Ireland are hungry to learn more about the technologies which can help them generate new business. They also of course want to be able to offer professional advice to their customers on how to get the best out of the technology incorporated into the latest generation of CCTV equipment,” said Francis William Cullen, a Director of Mercury Security. “As a stakeholder in the security industry in Northern Ireland, we are delighted to be working in conjunction with Tavcom Training to organise this educational event which will provide an insight into many of the key technical issues impacting on our industry’s ability to give greater to value to customers.”

Security professionals can register their interest in attending the 18.12 Conference by emailing: [email protected] or by telephone: + 44 (0) 1489 895099.
