Videcon ahead of the game in networked CCTV security

Trade-only security distributor, Videcon Ltd, ensures that user data on all Concept Pro IP and AHD professional recorders is protected by secure P2P severs as a part of its ‘Sequrinet’ security programme.

Secure P2P functionality on Concept Pro recorders takes advantage of a European-based server provider who adhere to the latest security compliance regulations and are used many of the most security-sensitive organisations.

Implemented across the current Concept Pro recording range in April 2016, secure P2P connectivity addresses concerns from professional security installers that third parties could gain access to unsecured CCTV systems on a network and view confidential video footage.

P2P is the fastest and simplest way to configure remote viewing of CCTV systems on smartphones and tablets. Using the Concept Pro Viewer app, available for iOS and Android devices, installers scan a QR code built into each VHDIPV2 or VXHAHD recorder and connect through the P2P server.

Ian Farr, Technical Director of Videcon Ltd, said:

“The industry has known for some time about the vulnerability of customers data when using P2P networks and it seemed only natural for my team to find a solution that ensured confidentiality. This is just the first component of our Sequrinet programme which will deliver a complete security solution for all of our users.”
