Björn Lidefelt is helping shape the future of identity-led security through his leadership of HID, a business central to credentials, access control, mobile identity and trusted access technologies. Appointed Executive Vice President and Head of HID in 2020, he leads a company whose work sits at the point where physical access, digital identity and smart building infrastructure increasingly overlap.
His background brings both technical and international depth. Lidefelt holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering and Industrial Management from Linköping University and has held senior roles across ASSA ABLOY, including General Manager of ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions China and Chief Commercial Officer. That experience gives him a broad understanding of global security technology, access control markets and the commercial demands placed on trusted identity systems.
Industry strategy and trusted access
Identity has become one of the most important foundations of modern security. Organisations increasingly need to know not only who is entering a building, but how credentials are issued, managed, protected and connected to wider digital infrastructure. HID Global’s work in physical and digital identity places Lidefelt close to issues affecting workplaces, campuses, critical facilities and enterprise estates.
His current tenure on the Security Industry Association Board of Directors, with a term ending in 2028, also connects him to wider industry conversations around standards, strategy and market direction. Through HID and his board role, Lidefelt contributes to a sector where trusted access, cyber awareness and identity assurance are central to protecting people, assets and spaces.
