Bonnie Butlin has built international influence through connection, advocacy and sustained support for the security and resilience community. She is Co-founder and Executive Director of Security Partners’ Forum, an international network designed to bridge disciplines across security, resilience, cybersecurity and related fields. Under the Security Partners’ Forum banner, she created WISECRA, the Women in Security and Resilience Alliance, which engages women in security and resilience associations and groups globally.
Her work is significant because security challenges rarely sit within one discipline, geography or organisation. By creating networks that bring professionals together across sectors and regions, Butlin has helped support collaboration, knowledge-sharing and stronger professional visibility.
Advocacy, recognition and representation
Butlin’s work has particular significance for women in security and for practitioners whose influence extends beyond a single company or market. She has also been associated with the Canadian Cybersecurity Alliance, described in public biographies as a major inter-association cyber initiative, and has served within the World Economic Forum’s Expert Network in Cybersecurity.
Since 2013, Butlin has received numerous international and national-level awards and recognitions linked to security and resilience. These include the Women of the Decade Award from the Women Economic Forum in 2018, alongside wider recognition for her contribution to women in security, cybersecurity and resilience. Her influence lies in creating platforms where others can be seen, connected and supported. Through WISECRA, Security Partners’ Forum and her wider advocacy, Butlin has helped strengthen an international security community that is more collaborative, more representative and better equipped to respond to shared risks.
