Clarion Events – Birmingham the ‘sensible’ choice for UK security installers

Birmingham is the “perfect” exhibition location for a UK security installer community that covers the entire length and breadth of the country, according to Clarion Events.

The company, which organises over 200 events globally annually, garnered research through consultation with exhibitors, associations and other stakeholders ahead of last month’s unveiling of the 2014 event.

Security Technology Live, which will run from May 13-15 2014 at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, is focused on the UK and European distributor, reseller and installer communities.

Clarion Events claim their research showed the NEC as the “sensible choice” to hold Security Technology Live as the UK security installer community is spread across the entire country.

The event organisers reckon more than 80% of the security installers in the UK are within a three-hour drive of the Birmingham venue. It said Security Technology Live’s potential catchment tool is therefore “almost twice as big as that of any show held at East London’s ExCeL Centre”.

In addition, the NEC has the advantage of 22,000 parking spaces compared to only 3,700 at the ExCel and Clarion research showed that installers based north of Toddington Services near Luton or west of Chieveley Services in Berkshire would actually benefit from speedier road commutes to the NEC than to ExCel.

Tim Porter, Managing Director of Clarion Defence & Security, said the history associated with both the date and time chosen for Security Technology Live will be a massive benefit to exhibitors and attendees.

“Every May for the past 16 years the UK security industry has come together at the NEC to meet and do business, and in 2014 we are delighted that Security Technology Live will be maintaining that longstanding tradition,” he added.

“History shows that the NEC in May is the perfect time and location for the UK’s installer and channel industry to attend a show.

“If manufacturers and distributors are looking to meet and grow their entire UK-based installer network, Security Technology Live at the NEC is the only UK show offering continuity of both venue and dateline with events they may have attended in the past.”
