Global MSC is building on the success of 2013

Global MSC’s annual conference, supported by media partner SecurityNewsDesk and sponsored by BT Redcare, is shaping up to be the best and most informative event since these began 8 years ago. Taking place on the 10th and 11th of November 2014 at The Bristol Hotel, visitors have a varied and packed programme to look forward to.

Headline speaker at this year’s event, Graeme Gerrard, Former ACPO Lead on CCTV, will be taking a look at the use of CCTV and the value of it in crime, discussing CCTV in homicide investigation on the Tuesday 11th November. The evening before he will also be the After Dinner Speaker, telling guests about his experiences heading up the CCTV elements for the successful London Olympic Games in 2012. Visitors will also hear from Warren Shadbolt, Executive Head of Community Safety, London Borough of Sutton. Shadbolt’s presentation will look at the recent award of an OJEU tender exercise to migrate town centre cameras from analogue to IP High Definition and from rented fibre to wireless transmission in a £1.2 million contract.

Dr Tim Brain, QPM, OBE, and former Chief Constable of Gloucestershire Police and visiting Professor at the University of Gloucestershire, will be speaking with authority on CCTV and the future of policing. Tim is the author of two major works on policing, A History of Policing in England and Wales from 1974and A Future for Policing in England and Wales.

MSC 1However, Global MSC Security does more than provide a packed programme. It also aims to raise awareness and funds for a good cause.

“This year we are raising money for two worthwhile charities on behalf of the late Gordon McLanaghan,”said Derek Maltby, Director at Global MSC Security, “the well known and greatly missed Bristol City Council Emergency Control Room Manager who passed away following a battle with cancer in July 2014. In honour of the great man, there will also be a Scottish theme at the gala dinner this year – so don your kilts if you dare!”

The two charities that will benefit from monies raised during the gala dinner at this year’s event are Above & Beyond Golden Gift Appeal and St Margaret’s Hospice.

At last year’s event, entitled “Making the Most of CCTV” at the Marriott Royal Hotel in Bristol, £825 was raised for Gastro-Oesophageal Support and Help (GOSH) Bristol – a charity also chosen by McLanaghan following his diagnosis with cancer of the oesophagus. A further £625 was raised for The Royal British Legion, making a grand total of £1,450.
