Across these pages, a consistent theme emerges. The technology is no longer the limiting factor. The conversations around AI, integration, and platform thinking have matured to the point where capability is largely understood. What is less comfortable, and far more relevant, is how those capabilities are applied, managed, and sustained once deployed. 

Our cover story reflects that shift clearly. The conversation around artificial intelligence has moved decisively from speculation to implementation. As Verkada’s growth and product development demonstrate, AI is no longer being positioned as an optional enhancement. It is becoming an operational layer, shaping how security teams interpret risk, manage incidents, and respond in real time. The challenge now is not adoption, but execution. 

That same tension runs through our interview with Jehan Wickramasuriya of Motorola Solutions. His point is a simple one, but it cuts through much of the noise surrounding AI. If technology is generating more alerts without improving outcomes, it is not solving the problem. Moving from detection to response is not a feature upgrade. It is a fundamental shift in how systems are expected to function. 

At a strategic level, our Big Interview with Myriam Bevillon of ESSA brings a different perspective, but arrives at a similar conclusion. Whether addressing trade barriers, standardisation, or the growing pressure around sustainability, the underlying issue is alignment. As she notes, the physical security sector is still behind where it needs to be on sustainability.

If there is one thread that connects this issue, it is accountability. The focus has shifted to delivery, and that is a far more demanding standard.
