Voting is open for Camera of the Year at the Security Buyer Readers’ Awards 2026, with readers invited to recognise the camera technologies supporting effective surveillance and incident investigation. Voting closes on 30 October 2026.
Image quality, coverage and analytics all influence how useful a camera becomes in daily security operations. Capturing a fast-moving vehicle presents different challenges from monitoring a busy retail floor or maintaining visibility across a large outdoor area.
This year’s four finalists address those requirements through global shutter imaging, panoramic views, automated tracking and independently adjustable imagers. Presented in alphabetical order by manufacturer, the finalists are:
AXIS P1486-LE Global Shutter Camera
The AXIS P1486-LE is a 3MP bullet camera designed to capture fast-moving subjects. Its global shutter sensor captures the entire image simultaneously, reducing the distortion associated with rapid movement. It delivers up to 60 frames per second at full resolution, with a motorised telephoto lens and infrared illumination supporting monitoring at distance. Onboard object analytics add detection, classification and tracking capabilities, making the camera relevant to traffic monitoring and transport infrastructure.
DMP VPLUS-7121-FE 12MP PoE Fisheye
Digital Monitoring Products’ VPLUS-7121-FE combines 12MP imaging with a 360-degree field of view, allowing one camera to monitor activity across an open space. Dewarping modes provide practical viewing formats, while onboard analytics identify people and vehicles. AlarmVision capabilities connect video intelligence with alarm verification, helping users assess events with visual context. Power over Ethernet simplifies installation, and ONVIF compliance supports integration with compatible third-party video systems.
IDIS DC-Y8D11WRA 12.5MP AI Fisheye Camera
The IDIS DC-Y8D11WRA combines high-resolution panoramic imaging with embedded deep-learning analytics and Panoramic Auto-Tracking. The camera can detect and follow moving objects across the scene, while analytics support intrusion, loitering and line-crossing detection. A-cut and AI Search support help operators retrieve relevant recorded events. Four-zone adaptive infrared illumination allows lighting to be adjusted across different parts of the image, supporting visibility in changing conditions.
IQSIGHT FLEXIDOME multi+ 7100i
The FLEXIDOME multi+ 7100i brings four independent 5MP imagers together in one device, providing 20MP total resolution and up to 360-degree coverage. Each imager has a motorised varifocal lens, allowing installers to configure views around a location’s requirements. The modular design can accommodate a complementary PTZ, panoramic or fixed camera. IVA Pro analytics detect and classify people and vehicles at the edge, while four views operate through one network connection and one VMS licence.
