June Issue 2026

Welcome to the June issue of Security Buyer, and to a particularly significant edition for the magazine as we launch our inaugural Power25. 

This special issue recognises 25 of the most influential voices shaping security today, from manufacturers and technologists to advocates for DEI, professional standards, best practice and the continued development of physical, cyber and guarding security. The list is not intended as a simple ranking of visibility or commercial scale. It is a reflection of impact: the people helping to move the industry forward, challenge outdated thinking and define what good security looks like in a more complex operating environment. 

That theme runs throughout this issue. Security is no longer neatly divided into separate disciplines. Access control is now identity infrastructure. Video surveillance is becoming searchable intelligence. Intrusion detection is moving towards verification and earlier intervention. Perimeter protection is no longer only about fencing, but about delay, detection and response. Across every area, buyers are asking harder questions about integration, accountability, resilience and operational value. 

Our cover story with Rhombus reflects that direction clearly, with the company announcing its latest access control integration with Honeywell. It is a timely example of how access control, video and cloud-managed security are converging. For end users, the value is not simply another connected platform, but the ability to bring events, identities and evidence into a more coherent operational view. 

I also speak to Bob Groom of FLIR in this issue’s Innovator interview. His insight into thermal imaging, AI adoption and changing end-user expectations is particularly relevant as security teams become more technically informed. Buyers are no longer only asking what technology can do; they are asking where it fits, how it integrates and whether it delivers actionable intelligence rather than more noise.
