Renowned experts confirmed for ‘Making the Most of CCTV’

Global MSC flyerSecurityNewsDesk spoke to Derek Maltby for an update on how Global MSC’s ‘Making the Most of CCTV’ seminar and exhibition, now just under three months away, is gathering shape.

A panel of eminent speakers will convene on the Marriott Royal Bristol Hotel on Tuesday 12th of November 2013 to discuss cutting edge topics in global video surveillance, counter terrorism and public safety.

The accompanying exhibition area will feature dozens of companies showcasing their latest equipment and services, and major names already signed up include Bosch and Schneider.

Representatives from councils, universities, major banking institutions and blue chip companies will be in attendance.  In addition, Avon and Somerset Police are sending visual investigation supervisors and technicians to learn about innovative technologies which may assist in their roles.

An exciting line-up of educational talks is already in place. Detective Chief Inspector Mick Neville from the Metropolitan Police, who set up the VIDO Unit, will speak on the subject of ‘More criminals caught on camera using enhanced CCTV techniques’ and pass on his insight on the benefits of using CCTV effectively for operators.

Maltby said: “This is knowledge police investigators want to hear because their job is enhanced and made easier if the operator is trained correctly to view the images and follow the action in a way that assists the investigation.”

Nick Gargan, Chief Constable of Avon and Somerset Constabulary, is also confirmed as a keynote speaker.

Jim Guiton, CCTV manager at Dacorum Borough Council, will discuss lessons learnt from migrating 100 cameras from analogue fibre to wireless transmission. Maltby described this talk as “a must” for everyone, adding:  “A lot of people want to go down this route and they will learn a great deal.”

Other speakers confirmed include Chris Ware, head of security at Bristol airport, who will debate the issue of airport security. He will also use his experiences as a former police officer and head of the helicopter surveillance unit for Avon and Somerset to reveal what cameras can achieve from above.

Also, professional film and TV aerial cameraman Steve Shearn will use his hands-on experience of drone technology to debate how unmanned aerial systems can benefit surveillance and crime fighting.

A stellar line-up of expert speakers, distinguished delegates and big-name exhibitors are already confirmed for Bristol. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to learn about the cutting edge topics in video surveillance, and also remember to book your place at the network dinner scheduled for the Monday night (11th of November).
