Yolanda Hamblen brings together frontline experience, senior security leadership and a clear commitment to improving the profession from within. A former police officer and detective, she has built a career across both physical and cyber security disciplines, with experience spanning security management, risk, resilience, governance, fraud investigations, business continuity and programme delivery.
Her background gives her a practical understanding of the pressures facing security professionals at different levels of the industry. That perspective is valuable in a sector where operational experience, wellbeing, leadership and professional development need to be more closely connected. Hamblen’s work helps show that security leadership is not only about protecting assets or managing risk, but also about supporting the people responsible for delivering security every day.
A platform for learning and inclusion
Hamblen sits on the Advisory Board of IFPO UK and has chaired its ED&I subcommittee, while also participating in work around mental health and wellbeing. Through The Security Circle podcast, produced with IFPO, she has created a platform for conversation, education and shared experience across the security community. The podcast brings together practitioners and sector figures to discuss leadership, resilience, risk, culture and the changing demands placed on security teams.
Her contribution is important because the industry needs more spaces where frontline professionals, senior leaders and subject specialists can learn from one another. By combining lived experience, advisory work and public discussion, Hamblen supports a more inclusive, informed and people-centred security profession. Her work also strengthens the link between physical security, cyber awareness, wellbeing and the professional confidence needed to move the sector forward.
