Traka Touch Pro is an electronic key management platform designed to bring physical keys into the wider access control environment. Available in four cabinet formats, the system controls who can remove individual keys, records when they are taken and returned, and provides an auditable record of activity. This addresses a familiar weakness in sophisticated security environments: once an authorised person has entered a building, traditional key cabinets and manual sign-out processes can leave access to vehicles, secure rooms and equipment comparatively uncontrolled.
Built for organisations ranging from individual sites to multi-site estates, Touch Pro can operate as a standalone cabinet or as part of a networked Traka environment. The range covers the compact V model through M, S and L cabinets, with capacities ranging from five key positions to 360 keys in a single L cabinet using double-density receptor strips, and up to 720 keys with L extension units.
Extending access control beyond the door
Touch Pro applies user permissions to individual keys rather than simply securing the cabinet. Authorised users authenticate at the 7-inch touchscreen and are given access only to the keys permitted for their role. Receptor strips can be configured in locking, audit-only and double-density formats, with tri-colour LEDs helping identify key positions.
Every transaction can be logged, creating a record of who took a key, when it was removed and when it was returned. This supports accountability across applications including fleet operations, healthcare, education, logistics, data centres and corporate facilities. Traka’s supplied Security Buyer material describes key management as a natural extension of access control, allowing organisations to apply more granular permissions after a person has entered a site.
For higher-level administration, Touch Pro can connect to TrakaWEB, enabling centralised browser-based management, permissions, reporting and monitoring across multiple cabinets and locations. Traka also supports integration with established security platforms, allowing existing credentials, users and permissions to form part of a connected access-control workflow.
Durability, scalability and integration
The Touch Pro enclosure uses aluminium construction with a 6 mm scratch-resistant polycarbonate door option, while its hinges have been tested to more than one million cycles. Systems support up to 40,000 users, Ethernet connectivity and multiple reader interfaces, including Wiegand, serial, PIN and OSDP options.
Its modular architecture means organisations can begin with a smaller deployment and expand as their key estate or security requirements grow. The product was also recognised with a Red Dot Award for Product Design in 2024, with the jury highlighting the security technology contained within its restrained cabinet design.
By combining controlled physical-key access, auditability, integration and centralised administration, Traka Touch Pro extends electronic access control beyond doors to the keys and resources people need once inside.
