CLIQ® system helps Helsingin Energia keep Helsinki lights on
Around 400,000 customers rely on Helsingin Energia for their electricity, and the company now relies on the Protec² CLIQ® system to keep its supply sites secure.
For Helsingin Energia and its customers, infrastructure security is paramount. Any interruption in supply would affect homes and businesses across the city, so the company switched to a security system tailored to the needs of critical services like public utilities.
CLIQ® is designed for organisations whose employees, technicians, and other contractors need variable admission rights to multiple high-security sites and buildings. Each user carries a single key that is programmed with exactly the access rights that the user needs.
The use of every key in the organisation can be controlled—and audited—remotely. Communications between door, cylinders, and system software are all encrypted.
Helsingin Energia has equipped almost all of its interior and exterior door locks with the Protec² CLIQ® system—around 3,500 doors, spread across 70 different site locations, ranging in type from power plants to warehouses.

“Now, if someone goes out on a Saturday night and loses the key, it is not a risk to us anymore,” says Mats Fagerström, chief security officer at Helsingin Energia.
