Cobalt Light’s RESOLVE to be demonstrated live at the UK Security Expo

Cobalt’s Resolve™, a ground-breaking new handheld Raman system that identifies hazardous materials through sealed opaque containers, is available for demonstration at the UK Security Expo in London, November 30th and December 1st 2016.

Resolve was launched in March 2016, for applications in Hazmat incident management, military search and EOD, first response, law enforcement, and screening at ports & borders. The system will be on show at Cobalt’s booth, F55, and will be presented in the Technology Workshop and Live Demonstration Theatre at 13.20, Thursday December 1st.

Resolve uses Cobalt’s proprietary spatially offset Raman spectroscopy (SORS) technology to detect and identify chemicals through opaque barriers such as coloured and non-transparent plastics, dark glass, paper, card, sacks and fabric. Measured spectra are accurately matched to comprehensive on-board spectral libraries and the system identifies materials including; explosives and precursors, hazardous and toxic materials, chemical agents, narcotics and new psychoactive substances, plus thousands of benign chemicals.

Resolve was named as one of the top new products at Pittcon 2016 by Instrument Business Outlook and was a finalist in the 2016 R&D 100 Awards.

About Cobalt Light Systems

Designed and manufactured near Oxford in the UK, Cobalt’s award-winning, innovative products enable non-invasive, sub-surface chemical analysis across a wide range of applications.

Unique Technologies

Cobalt’s proprietary technologies use novel variants of Raman spectroscopy. Our instruments can rapidly and accurately identify materials hidden inside objects or through opaque barriers such as plastic, coloured glass, paper and skin, or can measure the concentrations of materials in mixtures, with a high degree of accuracy.

UK Based

Our headquarters are near Oxford in the UK, with all product design and manufacturing taking place onsite.

Operations began in 2008, developing instruments across a range of Raman applications for laboratory and industrial analysis. The underlying technology is exclusive to the company and was invented at the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s (STFC) Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in the UK.
