Dr. Orlando Mardner has been named DEI Champion of the Year at the International Security Buyer 2025 Awards, the Judges’ accolade within the annual programme that recognises excellence, innovation and leadership across global security operations.
Hosted to celebrate the people and organisations driving measurable industry change, this year’s event placed particular emphasis on workplace culture, equity and accountable progression.
The category drew strong finalists – Brindha McDonald of Imperial College London and Kaylea Newlove of IPSA – both commended for advancing representation, safety and equity within their fields. Al three candidates embody forward movement within the sector, but it was the scale and legacy of Dr. Mardner’s impact that positioned him ahead. His work with the Birmingham Commonwealth Games was cited as a standout example of DEI strategy done well.
The result was an event environment in which participation broadened, visibility increased and long-term frameworks were left in place for future planning cycles.
The International Security Buyer 2025 Awards exist to spotlight progress with proof behind it — and Dr. Mardner’s achievement reflects exactly that.
