Days two and three at Intersec 2026 reinforced why the event continues to hold such strategic importance for the global security market. Momentum built steadily across the exhibition floor, with deeper technical conversations, senior level engagement, and a clear sense that the industry is actively recalibrating around scale, integration, and international collaboration.
A key milestone
A key milestone for the show was Messe Frankfurt Middle East’s announcement of the rebrand from Intersec to Intersec Global, positioning Dubai as the anchor for security and safety business worldwide. The move reflects the natural evolution of the event, recognising both its global reach and its role as a convening platform for international decision makers. As part of this transition, I conducted a video interview with Nathan Waugh, Portfolio Director at Messe Frankfurt Middle East, exploring the strategy behind the rebrand and what Intersec Global represents for the future of the exhibition and its audience. That conversation will be released in the coming weeks and provides valuable insight into how the event will continue to scale globally while retaining its operational focus.
On the show floor
On the show floor, our coverage continued to focus on technology with real world application. We recorded video interviews with HID, speaking with Khalid Mousa, Regional Sales Manager, and Senol Sezgin, Sales Manager Embedded, discussing the OMNIKEY ecosystem and its role in secure identity, authentication, and system interoperability. Accountability, auditability, and operational control were recurring themes, particularly as organisations seek tighter integration between physical and digital access environments.
Further discussions with Roshin Roy, Regional Director for Traka, and representatives from ASSA ABLOY focused on how asset management, access control, and identity technologies are being deployed to support compliance driven environments and high risk operations. Across these conversations, the emphasis was firmly on governance, visibility, and control rather than headline features.
Throughout days two and three, we also released a series of video interviews and commentaries featuring voices from across the market. These included Wim van Winghe and Sylvie Hagege of Zenitel, Nikhil Chivane of ZYGAL, Mike Hurst of IFPO, Aurelien Miana and Vikki Vink of HID, Rudolph Opperman and Lerato Nokukhanya Gule of Axis Communications, and Kevin Nightingale of Motorola Solutions, among many others. Each conversation added depth to the wider narrative emerging from the show, centred on convergence, resilience, and operational readiness.
Intersec Awards
Day two concluded with the Intersec Awards, held at the Conrad Hotel, bringing together senior figures from across the security and fire sectors, including association leaders, manufacturers, innovators, and end users. Congratulations go to all finalists and winners, including Enrique Plaza Baez, CEO of Microavia, recognised for Perimeter Security Solution of the Year for drone technology, and Hochiki Middle East and Kentec for their joint win of Active Fire Solution of the Year. The evening also acknowledged wider impact across the industry, with organisations such as Saudi Aramco recognised for their contribution.
The awards provided a valuable opportunity to reconnect with Security Buyer members and partners, including Satia Rae, Kaylea Newlove of IPSA, Leo Levit and Roberto Licari of ONVIF, Rasheed Alzahrani of King Salman Park Foundation, and Riham Sedik, Show Director of Intersec Saudi Arabia, alongside many others.
