At Intersec 2026 in Dubai, Security Buyer has released a new video interview with Nathan Waugh, Portfolio Director – Security, Technology & Production at Messe Frankfurt Middle East, exploring the official rebrand of Intersec to Intersec Global and what this evolution represents for the future of the international security sector.
Recorded following an exclusive press briefing at the show, the interview sees Security Buyer Group Managing Editor Rebecca Spayne sit down with Waugh to discuss why now is the right time to formalise Intersec’s global identity after 27 successful editions in the UAE.
Waugh explains that the move to Intersec Global is not a sudden repositioning, but rather a reflection of what the event has already become: the central pillar of Messe Frankfurt’s worldwide security portfolio. While the organisation runs 13 security-related events globally, Intersec is unique in that its flagship platform is anchored in Dubai rather than Frankfurt.

“By moving to Intersec Global, we are cementing Dubai’s role as the ‘mothership’ of our international security ecosystem,” Waugh states in the interview, highlighting the city’s growing influence as a hub for safety, security and resilience.
The conversation also addresses the increasing convergence of security, fire safety and resilience, and why these sectors can no longer operate independently. As threats become more interconnected and complex, Waugh argues that industry responses must evolve accordingly, with Intersec Global positioned as the platform bringing these critical discussions together.
With more than 1,200 exhibitors, seven national pavilions and close to 50,000 visitors expected at Intersec 2026, the event already functions as a global meeting point. The rebrand, Waugh notes, simply formalises that reality and strengthens Intersec’s authority on the international stage.
The interview further explores how Intersec Global aims to enhance the experience for both exhibitors and buyers through deeper senior-level engagement, closed-door policy-focused roundtables, and an increased emphasis on thought leadership, strategic insight and high-level content.
