International Security Expo 2022: Latest security innovations demonstrated LIVE. A carefully curated schedule will offer first-hand insights into the workings of newly launched products
With boundless opportunities to source and try the latest innovative security products and solutions, International Security Expo is expected to draw in the crowds when it returns to London Olympia from 27-28 September.
While the show floor will welcome 300 international companies to spotlight their latest innovative products and solutions, a carefully curated schedule of live demonstrations will offer first-hand insights into the workings of newly launched products. Among the companies confirmed to appear at this year’s Product Innovation Theatre, Abloy UK, Everbridge, QinetiQ, MoonHub, Marshalls, DASA, BlackBerry and Metrasens will take attendees through a detailed product introduction, with information and examples of real-life applications.
Offering attendees insights into Inorganic Explosive Detection, James Bryant, Commercial Development Director, EMEA, Greyscan will explore the development of trace detection and the requirements for new technologies to detect inorganic-based explosives and IEDs. Meanwhile, Simon Randall, CEO, Pimloc, will document the escalating use of CCTV and how to best manage privacy compliance at scale.
Gareth Balance, Product Manager, T3K Forensics, which demonstrates unique AI solutions for automated mass data analysis, will take a deep dive into the company’s innovative AI tools for data screening. It will explore automated data screening and using AI to detect illicit media content in files, documents, images, and videos. While Timothy Coley, Security Exploitation Manager, Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) will introduce the suppliers funded under the Innovative Research Call (IRC) 2020 for Explosives and Weapons Detection, including Iconal Technology, Fraunhofer UK & IRSweep and Metrasens.
Rigorous live product testing
For attendees looking specifically for demonstrations of the latest perimeter protection products and solutions, the returning Perimeter Protection Zone, in association with LPCB, supported by PSSA and sponsored by Barkers Fencing, will play host to the LPCB Live Testing Lab. Here, a team of professional forced entry specialists will be pitted against a wide range of physical security products including security fencing, windows and doorsets. Among the products being put under the hammer, will be Eagle Automation’s bi-folder gate; Selectaglaze’s secondary glazing systems; Barkers Fencing’s Palisade fencing with PIDS; Jacksons Fencing’s timber and weldmesh fencing; and Frontier Pitts Cantilever gate. Furthermore, the Drone & Counter Drone UAV Zone will offer a dedicated area for world-leading suppliers to showcase their drone and counter-drone capabilities, while Counter-EO UK & CBRN UK Pavilion will conduct a series of scenario-based demonstrations to showcase its member’s products and capabilities in the Counter Threat Pavilion.
A packed show floor of live innovations
Away from the show’s product demonstration zones, attendees can see and try thousands of products spanning a wide array of product categories, including Screening and Scanning; CCTV and Surveillance; Perimeter Protection; Hostile Vehicle Mitigation; Intruder Detection and Monitoring; and Access Control and Biometrics.
This includes demonstrations from Astrophysics Inc, a leader in x-ray research and development. The company will display its VI3D™ x-ray scanner, a new class of system that features 3D MotionView™ software that combines three angled views into a ‘rocking’ image that reduces blind spots and enhances threat detection. To demonstrate its capabilities, Astrophysics will scan a test kit of inert weapons, sharps, stimulants, and explosives to demonstrate its detective features.
Another live demonstration available to attendees will be delivered on the NavTech stand. The award-winning designer and manufacturer of commercially deployed radar solutions will connect live to its demo site in the UK at 13:00 BST each day to display the capabilities of its radar and software, including wide-area surveillance, both inside and outside of the perimeter. It will help attendees understand the importance of knowing what’s happening on a site – and where.
Drone Defence will offer live touchscreen demonstrations of its AeroTracker platform, a cloud-based integrated airspace monitoring solution, providing real-time flight viewing of both manned aircraft and UAVs. The solution also provides historic flight reports, which can be used in prosecutions, in line with CPR35 regulations. While SeeQuestor will demonstrate how its award-winning video analysis platform significantly enhances the speed and accuracy at which users locate people, objects, vehicles, or events of interest in live and recorded CCTV footage.
Demonstrating another first at the show, Apex Vanguard, the UK manufacturer of specialist surveillance and operational security camera systems, will be displaying its brand-new camera: The HECATE K9. It is designed as the first camera to offer daylight, infrared and thermal live video/audio that can be transmitted back to the dog handler at up to 300 metres. While a talkback feature enables the dog handler to relay commands in addition to listening via a front-facing loudspeaker and microphone.
3D printing and the future of firearms
In addition to a series of free-to-attend, public demonstrations, International Security Expo will play host to the National Crime Agency (NCA) closed-door event: Project INTERKNOW – 3D Printed Firearms. Project Interknow is the UK National Response to the emerging threat of privately manufactured and 3D printed firearms. A joint enterprise between Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP), the Home Office and the NCA, which leads the national response to the threat from the criminal use of firearms.
The event will involve guest speakers from EUROPOL, ATF, Dutch Police, Kings College London and Armament Research Services (ARES), covering the history of 3D printed firearms from the Liberator to current models. CTP and the NCA will also outline the threat, detailing case studies, investigative opportunities, and intelligence requirements to enhance Law Enforcement and Private Industry’s collective response.
