New Milestone Device Pack accelerates ONVIF support
Device Pack 8.6 for Milestone XProtect adds more than 70 new supported ONVIF devices. This software brings the total to more than 1,500.
Milestone Systems, the open platform company in networked video management software (VMS), has released Device Pack 8.6 for partners and customers using Milestone XProtect video solutions. Device packs are released every other month and contain software updates supporting new hardware. These updates are rooted in demands from the partner community. Thanks to the foundation of true open platform technology, Milestone adds new devices and functionality to the XProtect VMS at a rapid pace.
ONVIF support signals Milestone dedication to standards
The XProtect Device Packs include tested drivers optimized to enable cameras or other hardware devices to be used by XProtect software. Milestone has always promoted driver standards such as ONVIF and remains dedicated to supporting the broadest range of cameras and devices on the market.
Before an ONVIF device is listed as Milestone-supported hardware on milestonesys.com, it has been tested to ensure that its functionality with XProtect is compliant with ONVIF specifications. Testing drivers ensures the highest functionality for a video surveillance solution which is vital in total system operability, efficiency and stability. Milestone works closely with manufacturers in the Camera Partner Program (CaPP) to achieve optimal interaction between their devices and XProtect VMS.
In the Milestone CaPP ONVIF functionality testing can be done by Milestone or the vendors can do the testing in their own facilities after completing a four day Milestone training class. The ability to do the complete Milestone certification test saves time and costs for camera manufacturers in their go-to-market strategy.
