OPTEX has launched the TXI Series, a new range of high-mount outdoor curtain detectors designed to improve perimeter protection while reducing nuisance alarms in residential and commercial environments.
The new detectors create an invisible curtain barrier along a building façade, helping security teams detect intruders before they reach the property itself.
Designed for perimeter protection
The TXI Series is designed to support earlier intrusion detection around ground-floor perimeters, balconies, warehouses, office buildings and retail sites.
Its narrow detection field helps define and secure property boundaries while maintaining reliable human detection.
In high-mount installations, detectors typically face downward to monitor activity at ground level, making them more vulnerable to nuisance alarms caused by pets, wildlife and environmental movement.
While reducing sensitivity can help minimise false alarms, it can also compromise detection performance.
Advanced detection technology
At the core of the TXI Series is OPTEX’s patent-pending Triple AND Logic technology. This uses three independent sensing areas to create three detection zones, with an alarm only triggered when all three zones detect movement simultaneously.
The system also incorporates OPTEX’s Super Multidimensional Analysis (SMDA) digital processing technology, which analyses multiple characteristics of detected movement to filter environmental noise and maintain stable performance in changing conditions.
OPTEX says the combination of Triple AND Logic and SMDA helps maintain reliable human detection while significantly reducing nuisance alarms.
Flexible installation options
The TXI Series supports mounting heights from 2.2m to 4m and provides a 12m x 2.4m curtain coverage area. An optional look-down zone can be enabled or disabled to address blind spots commonly found in high-mount installations.
Installation is supported through supplied brackets for secure fitting and concealed wiring, while an optional TXI-BKT ceiling and wall mount bracket allows angle and gradient adjustments.
Security and environmental protection
The detectors include a front tamper switch, a built-in accelerometer to detect movement or repositioning, and anti-masking functionality on dual-technology models.
Rated IP55 and capable of operating between -30°C and +60°C, the TXI Series is designed for reliable outdoor performance.
The range includes four models: the wired TXI-ST (PIR) and TXI-DAM (dual technology with anti-masking), alongside the battery-powered TXI-R (PIR) and TXI-RDAM (dual technology with anti-masking). Battery models are compatible with third-party wireless transmitters for integration with existing alarm systems.
