Partnership between LINK and Crimestoppers continues

Crimestoppers and the UK cash machine (ATM) network LINK, have renewed their partnership for the 7th year.

With UK cash machine fraud costing the UK economy £27.3 million in 2014* the two organisations will continue to raise awareness of the different forms of ATM crime, thereby encouraging people to recognise and report information on this crime type.

The partnership between LINK and Crimestoppers began in 2008 and, since that time, the two organisations have also been proactive in circulating press releases with regional media on the back of ATM-related crimes, to help raise the profile of these incidents.

Link has also taken advantage of Crimestoppers’ unique reward mechanism in order to offer financial incentives for members of the public to come forward with information, thereby demonstrating that LINK is a responsible member organisation in the banking industry and will not tolerate being targeted by criminals.

Graham Mott, Head of Strategy & External Relations for LINK, said; “LINK is delighted to renew its partnership with Crimestoppers. ATM crime, while rare, remains a threat and it is something which the whole industry takes very seriously. Crimestoppers provide a simple and effective route for people to report ATM crime; even the smallest snippet of information can be vital when it forms part of a bigger picture.”

Rodger Holden, Director of Business Development for Crimestoppers, said: “ATM crime takes many forms, from the protection of personal PIN numbers to criminal gangs who have been known to literally rip cash machines out of walls.

“At Crimestoppers we take all types of crime seriously, which is why we are delighted to be continuing our work with LINK in order to protect members of the public from the financial risk and general inconvenience of ATM-related crime.”
