The AXIS P1486-LE Global Shutter Camera is an AI-powered 3MP bullet camera engineered specifically for applications where fast-moving subjects must be captured with forensic clarity. Its defining feature is a 1/1.8-inch CMOS global shutter sensor, which captures the entire image simultaneously rather than scanning the frame line by line. This significantly reduces the motion distortion commonly associated with rapidly moving vehicles and other high-speed subjects.
The technology makes the P1486-LE particularly suited to traffic monitoring, law enforcement, transport infrastructure and other applications where accurately identifying a vehicle, number plate or object at speed can be critical.
At full 2048 x 1536 resolution, the camera can deliver up to 60 frames per second, while lower-resolution capture modes can increase performance to as much as 270fps. A 10–40mm motorised telephoto lens provides flexible surveillance at distance, supported by remote zoom and focus.
Capturing fast movement day and night
Global shutter technology is complemented by built-in continuous and strobing infrared illumination. Axis OptimizedIR provides illumination at distances of up to 80 metres, enabling the camera to capture fast-moving subjects even in complete darkness.
An integrated Sync Out connection can trigger an additional third-party strobe light in synchronisation with image capture. This provides further flexibility where operators need additional illumination to capture details from vehicles or other rapidly moving targets.
Lightfinder 2.0 and Forensic WDR support image quality across challenging lighting environments, while electronic image stabilisation reduces the effect of vibration. This is particularly relevant for roadside, pole-mounted and exposed installations where wind or traffic can create movement.
AI analytics and resilient edge security
The camera is built on Axis’ ARTPEC-9 system-on-chip and incorporates a deep learning processing unit for analytics directly at the edge. AXIS Object Analytics is pre-installed, enabling the camera to detect, classify, track and count objects without relying entirely on server-side processing.
AXIS Image Health Analytics can identify conditions including blocked, degraded, redirected or underexposed images, while AXIS Live Privacy Shield provides AI-based dynamic masking. Metadata generated by the camera can also support dashboards, search and wider operational intelligence.
The outdoor-ready housing carries IP66, IP67 and IK10 ratings and operates between -40°C and 60°C. Axis Edge Vault adds hardware-based cyber protection, including secure boot, signed operating software and FIPS 140-3 Level 3 certified secure key storage.
