Securiclad makes impact in Far East market with security solution

High security modular panel systems manufacturer Securiclad has extended its international reach, after being engaged in a major new project in Hong Kong.

Panel systems from Securiclad, which is based in North Tyneside, UK, were employed by international security specialist Burton Safes as part of a layered security solution for Royal England Safe Deposit Box Limited – a Hong Kong-based company that provides high-end safe deposit box facilities to businesses and private individuals, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Asia Allied Infrastructure Holdings Limited, a company listed in Hong Kong on the Main Board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (stock code: 00711).

Burton Safes, a supplier of safes, vaults, secure storage and access control systems, was commissioned by Royal England Safe Deposit Box Limited to create a secure vault in the basement of a 30+-storey skyscraper in Central, Hong Kong’s main business district.

The project’s construction was constrained by strict weight requirements, due to the structural load specifications of the building – and its location above an underground Mass Transit Railway (MTR) line – and accessibility issues, as the building is sited on one of Central’s busiest streets, so construction work could only take place after 8pm.

Burton Safes, which operates across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Far East, used Securiclad’s panels as part of a complete security solution. The company, which has a long term relationship with Securiclad, chose the products because of their high security level and independent security certification, lighter weight compared to traditional building measures, and the flexible construction capabilities generated by their modular design.

Securiclad’s systems are certified to Loss Prevention Standard (LPS) 1175 Security Rating (SR) 4 and are approved for UK Government use by the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI). They are used to protect high risk areas in the data centre, government, utilities, military, nuclear, healthcare and financial sectors.

Mike McColl, managing director of Securiclad, said:

“We have a long standing partnership with Burton Safes and I’m delighted that by working together, we have been able to provide an effective solution for Royal England Safe Deposit Box Limited.

“Combined with other methods, Securiclad is helping Royal England Safe Deposit Box Limited ensure its customers have great confidence in the site’s physical security measures, and has supported Burton Safes in working within precise restrictions surrounding accessibility and weight.

“This project is a prime example of the flexibility of our high security modular panel systems, and our ability to work in partnership with other physical security providers. We’re looking forward to working with Burton Safes on future projects both nationally and internationally.”

Tony Lever, commercial sales manager of Burton Safes, added:

“This project generated a number of challenges relating to accessibility and weight – we knew that Securiclad could offer a product that would overcome them and it’s been fantastic to have worked with Mike and the team on this project, and to have integrated Securiclad into a complete range of security solutions for Royal England Safe Deposit Box Limited.”

Ray Li, director of Royal England Safe Deposit Box Limited, said:

“We had been searching for the right partners for this project for some time and we were therefore delighted to engage with Burton Safes and Securiclad, who have combined to create a high security environment that ensures our customers have the peace of mind that their valuables are fully safeguarded.

“Both Securiclad and Burton Safes have excellent reputations in their fields and it was very important to Royal England Safe Deposit Box Limited that we could work with companies who had the expertise to provide a high security level while working within our site’s constraints.”

Securiclad can be used in new buildings or retro-fitted to an existing site and is pre-finished, negating the need for hot and wet trade requirements. It has both internal and external applications and can be used to form a standalone ‘room’, kiosk or partition.

Manufactured at Securiclad’s facility in North Tyneside, the system is delivered across the UK and abroad. Securiclad can be offered as a turnkey solution, via approved and certified personnel or on a supply-only basis for contractors who prefer to install the system themselves. Securiclad can also be supplied fully assembled as a smaller kiosk, guard hut or small storage space.
