Event security specialists Showsec have been granted the contract for full stewarding and security at this year’s V Festival at Weston Park, Staffordshire.

The two day V Festival, now in its 18th year, is one of the UK’s most popular music events. Held at Staffordshire’s Weston Park in tandem with the sister event in Chelmsford each year, over 80,000 people gather to see performances by international rock and pop headliners, which this year include Beyoncé and Kings of Leon, 17th to 18th August 2013.

V Festival production manager Andy Redhead said: “I’m delighted we have appointed Showsec as our security and stewarding supplier for the V Festival in Weston Park. They have proven capability to implement modern festival security consistently with a balance of security and understanding the behaviour of a festival audience”

Showsec will provide upwards of 1,000 security staff to this years’ main festival site and camp sites, using combined festival security experience and knowledge to provide a customer-focussed service. The contract further consolidates Showsec’s presence and continued expansion in the festival market, underpinned by the expanded management infrastructure. This expanded capability means there is confidence in delivering modern festival security across a summer portfolio of high end festival clients.

Showsec director Mark Logan added: “Showsec is ecstatic to be working with this iconic festival, which is a key part of UK festival culture. We are already engaged in extensive planning with Roseclaim and Staffordshire Police in agreeing the relevant parameters to ensure the highest service levels are in place to deliver a professional service to the ticket-buying public.

“Operations will remain focused on our priority that all attendees have a safe and enjoyable experience, befitting the overall philosophy of the V Festival production management team Andy Redhead and Liam Boylan.”
