The Security & Fire Excellence Awards 2021

Excellence Awards

The Security & Fire Excellence Awards 2021 took place on November 23 2021 at London Hilton on Park Lane

The 2021 Security & Fire Excellence Awards had a welcome return to a ‘live’ format, once again back at London Hilton on Park Lane. While the 2020 event was forced to take place online in a virtual setting due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year enabled the event to return in full force in a face-to-face environment.

Security Buyer and Fire Buyer are proud partners of the Security & Fire Excellence Awards, hosted by Ifsec International and Firex International. The team had a brilliant night celebrating with others in the industry. We were delighted to present the well deserved Security Hardware Product Innovation of the Year award to RaySecur.

Described by Gerry Dunphy, Event Director, Fire & Security for Informa Group as ‘marvellous’, Security & Fire Excellence Awards was a sell-out, with around a 1000 guests gathered to once again network, socialise and party face to face and to recognise and reward the very best individuals and companies in the fire and security sectors.

The Awards continue to be supported by Headline Sponsors – First Response Group and ISA Support Services, along with Sustainable Partner – Axis Communications, Drinks Reception Host – On-Verve, Entertainment Sponsor – SSGC and Event Sponsors – Bidvest Noonan, HID Global, LMG, Reliance High-Tech, TrackTik and Zitko.

The Awards kicked off with mind-blowing magic tricks from host, TV’s Ben Hanlin, best known for presenting ITV2’s Tricked and finishing in fourth place on 2020’s Dancing on Ice. Following a standing ovation, 1966 World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst presented the Company Lockdown Hero of the Year trophy to Corps Security and the Champion of Champions trophy to FGH Security. Sir Geoff Hurst then capped an evening to remember with a unique rendition of ‘Sweet Caroline’ with resident karaoke band, Rockaoke.

A member of the judging panel commented “A brilliant event as always. One issue though for next year … how are you going to top Sir Geoff Hurst singing karaoke? The Queen beat boxing? Sir David Attenborough dressed as a dinosaur? I wait in anticipation!”

Engineers of Tomorrow

The event also showcased the future of the industry, with winners of the highly respected Engineers of Tomorrow (EoT) competition being recognised. The event, which covers security and fire, highlights the best of the next generation of systems installers from across the UK, while the electronic security systems competition also acts as the sole mechanism to represent the industry at WorldSkills UK.

Regional heats of next year’s competition will once again take place between January and March 2020. The top apprentices will then proceed to the next stage, taking place at IFSEC International in May.
