Leading control room furniture manufacturer Winsted Europe & Middle East, which manufactures a wide range of control room furniture including console systems, monitor walls, workstations and multimedia desks, has been presented with a coveted Queen’s Award for Enterprise at a ceremony attended by Lady Brinton, wife of the late Lord Lieutenant of Worcester.

Winsted won its Queen’s Award for outstanding achievement in the International Trade category, with impressive growth in overseas sales year-on-year and an overall increase of 82% over the past three years.  The Queen’s Awards are made annually by HM the Queen to honour outstanding companies and encourage the development of British business, and are granted for the highest levels of excellence demonstrated in each category.

“Despite the tough current economic times, we are extremely proud to have successfully entered and grown new markets”, comments Winsted’s General Manager, Terry Shough.  “We are delighted to accept the Award during this very special Diamond Jubilee year. This achievement reflects the hard work put in by the whole Winsted team over a long period, as well as our range of innovative, high quality products.”

Mr Shough, accompanied by Winsted’s Marketing & Development Manager, Claire Brown, also attended a reception at Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Award for Enterprise winners, hosted by The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh.

News of Winsted’s success follows hard on the heels of the company’s certification to the ISO14001 environmental management standard, demonstrating the firm’s ‘green’ credentials through its commitment to eco-friendly operations. It also builds on Winsted’s existing ISO9001 quality management system certification.
