Axis Unveils New AI-Powered Network Cameras

Axis Communications has launched a new range of AI-enabled network cameras designed to deliver enhanced video analytics and improved situational awareness across a wide range of security applications.

The latest additions include an all-in-one bi-spectral PTZ camera combining thermal and visual surveillance, alongside four next-generation bullet cameras offering high levels of image quality and forensic detail. The launches form part of a broader expansion of Axis’ network camera portfolio in recent weeks.

Built on ARTPEC-9, Axis’ latest system-on-chip, the new cameras offer accelerated performance and enable advanced analytics to be run directly at the edge. All devices come with AXIS Object Analytics preinstalled, allowing them to detect, classify, track and count humans, vehicles and vehicle types.

Cybersecurity is also a key focus, with the cameras protected by Axis Edge Vault, the company’s hardware-based cybersecurity platform. This provides secure key storage and operations certified to FIPS 140-3 Level 3 standards.

Among the new releases is the AXIS Q6411-LE Bispectral PTZ camera, which combines thermal detection with visual verification in a single device. Supporting the AV1 codec, the camera is designed to deliver accelerated performance and improved situational awareness. In addition to AXIS Object Analytics, it is compatible with AXIS Perimeter Defender for enhanced area detection using thermal technology, and includes orientation aid and Auto-tracking 2 with click-and-track functionality.

Commenting on the role of AI in modern security, Linn Storäng, Regional Director for Northern and Eastern Europe at Axis Communications, said: “At Axis, we see AI having a transformative impact on the very nature of security. The analytics, automations and insights made possible by ever-more powerful hardware and diverse smart software integrations give surveillance an edge it has never had before.

“This new era where AI filters out irrelevant information is driving a shift from human-centric to truly human-augmented security. Security professionals can then focus on what matters most to be more effective than ever.”

Axis has also introduced four robust AI-powered bullet cameras designed to perform reliably in challenging weather and environmental conditions. The AXIS P1475-LE and AXIS P1485-LE offer 2 MP resolution, while the AXIS P1487-LE and AXIS P1488-LE deliver 5 MP and 8 MP respectively. The P1488-LE includes a large 1/1.2-inch sensor to maintain consistent performance in low-light conditions.
