Siemens and Viakoo Collaborate

Siemens Smart Infrastructure announced an agreement with Viakoo, a provider of enterprise OT/IoT security, to offer the Viakoo Action Platform™ to its customers. This collaboration creates a service where Siemens will provide organizations with a comprehensive, automated solution for analyzing, managing and securing their rapidly expanding fleets of Internet of Things (IoT) and Operational Technology (OT) devices, providing robust cyber hygiene and continuous compliance.

The proliferation of OT and IoT devices has created significant cyber-attack opportunities for enterprises, with estimates showing an average of five to ten OT/IoT devices per employee. While these devices are critical for business operations, they often lack the security management standards applied to traditional IT assets, making them vulnerable to ransomware and data exfiltration. The Viakoo Action Platform addresses this challenge by enabling Siemens customers to secure their OT/IoT devices to the same rigorous standards as their IT counterparts, allowing them to safely participate in the network and deliver uninterrupted business value.

Using Viakoo’s cloud-based platform, Siemens’ customers will benefit from automated device management, proactive vulnerability detection, and real-time compliance tracking for their physical security and OT/IoT environments. Key capabilities include automated firmware updates, certificate management (e.g., 802.1x), and password enforcement, alongside continuous operational notifications. The platform’s vendor-agnostic and agentless deployment simplifies the management of diverse, multi-vendor security device fleets, reducing manual effort and improving adherence to service level agreements.

Rich Reidy Comments:

“In today’s interconnected world, securing IoT and OT devices is paramount for maintaining operational integrity and mitigating cyber risks,” said Rich Reidy, US Security Segment Head of the Buildings business at Siemens Smart Infrastructure USA. “Together with Viakoo, this joint effort underscores our dedication to expanding the Siemens Connect Ecosystem program by delivering top-tier security service. Viakoo’s advanced platform and flexible technology align perfectly with our goal of offering cutting-edge, adaptable services that empower our customers to achieve robust security posture and compliance across their physical security infrastructure.”

The Viakoo Action Platform is particularly valuable for organizations with large, distributed security device fleets, those facing stringent regulatory audits, and environments with legacy or multi-vendor systems. By integrating Viakoo into its portfolio, Siemens further strengthens its managed service offerings, drives recurring revenue opportunities, and enhances customer retention by providing a critical service for modern OT/IoT security challenges.

Bud Broomhead Comments:

“We are thrilled to join forces with Siemens, a global technology leader committed to innovation and excellence,” said Bud Broomhead, CEO and Founder at Viakoo. “This collaboration allows us to extend the reach of the Viakoo Action Platform, helping more enterprises secure their IoT and OT environments, automate critical cyber hygiene tasks, and ensure continuous compliance. Together, we will empower organizations to unlock the full potential of their connected devices without compromisingsecurity.”
